Changing Race Night to a summer event was always going to be a bit of a gamble. On the one hand you have members that don't like going out on the dark cold nights and on the other hand you have those that like to spend the lighter evenings doing other things like gardening, walking or even bowling outdoors! However, the move was a good one because we had a full racing card which resulted in the most successful Race Night we have had to-date. In addition we were able to pay out a further £65 in prize money. With this amount of support I am sure Race Night will continue to be a summer event.
Further changes were made to this year's B-B-Q. In previous years our costs were far too high resulting in having to charge more for the tickets and/or making less money for the club. Judging by your feed back this year's B-B-Q was the best for food, entertainment and value for money. Having got all three things right along with boosting the club's finances we will look to continue along the same vain next year.
Over the year's Quiz Night has been well supported but this year we are struggling to get teams. We need at least 12 but to-date we have only FIVE teams entered so we need your help. Your team doesn't have to be made up of all club members as we have always allowed guests on Quiz Night. With a full complement of teams there is £100 in prize money up for grabs. So see if you can round up a few friends and neighbours for a good fun night out. Sandwiches can be ordered from David.
With the day trip to Blenheim Palace proving to be such a resounding success there will be another trip to a historic house followed by dinner on arrival back at the club next year. Watch out for further details.
With our restaurant now providing us with good food and a very good level of service the social committee will re-introduce the end of season dinner/dance. In fact on this occasion it will be a dinner, dance and cabaret. The date is Friday 13th April 2012. Further information to follow.
You will notice that there is a change to the forthcoming programme. Dizzy will be replacing Vanity Fare on Friday 4th November.
